Why
"Hahn" Air Base ?
There
are two stories told about naming the Hahn Air Base
The
first is that the Hahn Air Base should be named after Lautzenhausen because
of the nearness of this village. But the Americans had some problems with
the pronounciation of Lautzenhausen. So they named the Air Base after the
next village and that was Hahn.
There
is a more plausible story for naming the Hahn Air Base. The first plans
of the Hahn Air Base had the marking "Boundary Hahn". So they named it
after the village Hahn though it had nearly nothing to do with the Hahn
Air Base. |
